Don Lappin is a hard fisherman. He works plugs and jigs fast and furious. This weekend he spent lots of time on the Plum Island beachfront. His top bass were 24 and 26″ thin, bright and towing along some lice, so most likely not holdovers. He said the bait they were following were really small. Could be tiny herring on their way up the river.
So time to dust off you stuff and cast from the beach.
This morning a couple of fellas were grabbing schoolie up to about 24″ on sluggos with jig heads. Outgoing tide, about mid way through.
The other reports were from the Captain’s Ladies on Plum Island point. Lots of cod and haddock picked up Friday, including a 47lb. monster caught by a kid under 10 years old. We had the good fortune of getting dinner fillets from a pile of 27lbs of fillets brought into the shop. The bottom fishermen are having a great time.
