Looks like the Shad have arrived on the Merrimack. Here’s a photo from Jackie Brown yesterday. Rocks village bridge. 3 hours after high. 17-18” male. Caught on a 1/32 oz shad dart.

    I have never fished for Shad in the Merrimack and am interested in hiring a guide first. Any recommendations? I prefer wading and flyfishing, but am open to other options

    I’ve seen Captain Jackie Brown catch fish in the desert with no water within hundreds of miles. No wonder this ole’ sea captain caught the first shade of the season.
