19 Apr 4/18/12 FISH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OKAY ALL YOU FISHERMEN……………………….HEAR THIS!!!!
One of our reliable sources called in yesterday…..fish up in Lawrence. He told us that he caught a lot of 15 inch stripers. Good sign to see that size fish here! Not a lot of herring up at the dam yet, but we have heard of Alewives in the Parker River. Also there have been a lot of birds working the oceanfront and in the flats. Not sure what they are chasing……….but it is a good sign. There have been some reports of white perch in the Parker and Mill Rivers in Newbury. Those rivers are off of Route 1 in Newbury/Byfield. We have also heard a couple of shad caught at Rocks Village area and Lawrence also. Lead shad darts are legal at Rocks Village but not in Lawrence. We are looking to find some darts made out of tin. Remember that you need a fresh water fishing license to fishing beyond Ward Hill (495 exit) in Haverhill. We also heard a few flounder taken on the oceanfront by the south jetty. We have not heard of any stripers off the oceanfront, but it might be a good idea to walk and cast a lead head jig. Our hours will be increasing as the fishing improves.
Starting Friday 4/20, we will be open from 6AM-6PM every day. Still call ahead though to double check please. 978-462-4202. If we are having a nor’easter down here, we might close a little early!
