23 Jun 6/23 – this week’s report….
Hi Gang,
Iv’e been hitting the water as much as possible this past week. Between Plum Island and Cranes Beach there are certainly some quality fish to be had. Last weekend I got to watch a good friend and excellent fisherman Gabe Chuckran land a personal best striper at 43″ and just around 25 pounds. He’s put a ton of time in and nobody else is more deserving….
I’ve also been putting in some time down on Plum Island, mostly around the new sandbars with not too much to show except for a few schoolies and …….wait…..a “shad”??? yup, a shad, jumped clean out of the water too. Poor mans tarpon I believe they call them…..
I fished Cranes the last couple nights with only a few fish to show and alot more dropped fish…..here’s one that made it to the beach….
Tight lines, see you out there….

Posted at 16:42h, 30 JuneHi Steve,
Sorry to disagree about leaving my rod and reel on the sand but it a completely sealed VAN STAAL and is built to take just such abuse….I regularly dunk and use this reel in the worst possible conditions as well as underwater….I assure you sand is NOTHING to a reel like this…but thanks for your concern….
