21 Aug August 21st…………….BLUEFISH BLITZ!!!
WHAT DID I TELL YOU????
Well, I told you surf guys to get the gear out and to be ready for the blues to come into shore. They were here in full force this morning. What a time the guys that were down today have had. So here goes………………Up front of the store the guys could see the fish busting but they were just out of reach. But………..they headed into shore when they reached the refuge boundry. Parking Lot 1 produced bass and blues this morning from 6am on (that would be the top of the outgoing tide!). The fish were pushing little herring. Metal lures were the ticket at this location. They pushed the bait in close to the beach. Parking Lot 3 produced blues. One guy that came running back into the store from here caught his on mackerel and herring chunks. South end of the refuge small bass were taken.

Posted at 15:41h, 21 AugustHah!! I’m ready to give up! Fished all day from 10-4 in a boat and had 1 blue while trolling. Nothing on chuncked herring. Oddly enough, fish (blues) were chasing bait fish by the RT.1 bridge, but not taking lures. This fisherman is going hone hungry…again.

Posted at 19:07h, 21 AugustFriday night got into the chopper blues off plum at sunset and then hit the bruisers hard this morning around 6am. All took deep trollers in 30′ of water with nothing doing on the surface.
I did not break any rods but had a monster grenade a 100# barrel swivel.

Posted at 08:47h, 22 AugustEd, please point us common folk in the right direction. Shore or boat?beachfront or river? Bait? If I don’t catch something soon I might starve to death!

Posted at 12:10h, 22 AugustFished the beach this AM…cool temps, strong winds..some surf. Right now its very very weedy..so if your fishing bait expect to pull up weeds on every cast.

We fish only from the beach (ocean Front) we put hours in…ya gotta have bait in the water when they roll by….the first few hours of complete darkness…moving tide..either in or out..Sea Worms…two at a time on the hook…I know it gets expensive but two at a time hooked once through the head…you should hook up…this honestly has been one of our best seasons…really GOOD LUCK

Posted at 20:17h, 22 AugustWith the oncoming storm early next week (as predicted, but we know how that can go) I plan on being on the refuge on Sat or Sun morning. May be a good time to be a surf caster!

I did exactly what you said to do and boy did I hook up last night between 8-midnight!! Problem is that they were all skates! Like 10 of them! Ugly buggers kept snatching my worms too! Not a single striper. Went home hungry…again!
Thanks for the tips. It’s getting personal between me and the stripers.
