Well the Big Bill Blow came through this past weekend and we expected big fish with big waves, but no deal. The surf and swell shut down the mouth of the river from boat traffic. There were standing 6 and 8 footers breaking there, so no one was fishing. On Saturday the flats were very active with bunches of schoolies taken on the tube and worm. Even when the rig was casted!
Last night your author was on the flats hucking eels, and though I found the fish after a 3 hour hunt, I only got one schoolie out of the bunch. The fish were hanging in one spot, spooking left and right, but none of them eager enough for a meal of eelskin. The action continued through sunrise when I had to bail on the outgoing tide.
