SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS               8 am – 3 pm

Parker enjoys his walks on Kent Island. This is last night at sunset. Today is another matter altogether . We have snow, rain or a mix depending on where you live. Some have liked the mild winter we have had so far, but New England has four seasons and a lot of fishermen fish all four! So we need some snow, some freezing rain, some ice to form. Ray (and Martha) loved to go to Maine to fish for smelts through the ice. Kay liked to eat smelts. She was ever so happy when they returned with a bucket full and she would happily clean them, roll them in cornmeal and fry them in Crisco! And was always sharing. There are a few that might remember eating smelts with Kay either in her house or in the shop. So bring on the cold and the smelts!

Just had my smelts the other morning, dredged in cornmeal, lightly fried with eggs over medium. Yum!
