June 1, Catch and release the big one

June 1, Catch and release the big one

We do get some grief about posting our weighed-in fish. Of course we’ve been doing it since 1960, so it’s no surprise we’d continue sharing the photos online. However, we do know that the bulk of Plum Island’s fish are caught and released. We’d like to get photos of those fish too, and to start this season’s user-submitted catch and release photos I give you Dave Hadden and his kids.

.

Started the day with a 21 pounder on fly.  3rd fish of AM, 41 pounds 47 inches.  Hooked it and handed off to Will who fought it for 20 mins before we boated it. See attached shots. All fish, Released, swimming..and breeding. Total for AM 6 fish over 30 on fly! 20+ fish

.

Get out there!
