June 16, A little slow, but some highlights

It’s been somewhat slow this week, hence no reports. Today in the morning there were a few keepers taken in the river off the sandbar at the Captain’s parties. And out front, off the beach, one of our customers has been limiting out on flounder. That’s kind of a surprise, but a welcome one.

.

Tube and worm is producing on the flats, with some of our kayak guys grabbing fish of 40″ and 43″.

.

Nights on the river have been frustrating. The regular haunts of the eel fishermen have been stacked with schools of fish, but only a few takers. Tough night when you drage a fresh snake right through a school and no one takes it. Instead there are small fish grabbin twitched black sluggos, and trolled pikie-style topwater lures. In particular, a Joe Brotz handmade plug was the only lure that produced anything in one boat. Three smaller fish, but fish none the less.

Landed 5 last night ( Tuesday ). 1 Keeper and a second that probably was a keeper but didn’t measure it and released it. All in the river just after low. Plenty of hits on Mac chunks.
