09 Jul Little stories, large fish.
Dan Parma
Last week I got a few decent stripers in the Beverly/Salem harbor using my favorite AL Gags whip it fish (white).
It took me a little bit to get a quality pic off my gopro footage but it’s in the attached file.
The fish in the pic was 34 3/4″. It took me for a sleigh ride and wrapped my line around 2 lobster pots in the process.
When I finally got the fish in my kayak, I realized it was too big for my measuring board. I had to break out the tape measure and it was really close on being too big. I quickly got him back in the water and started swimming him to see if it would make a healthy release. After a 5-minute swim the fish regained color and swam out to open water.
I live for days like this!

Was 43.25″ and a little over 40 pounds. What a catch. New rod from you guys and tons of new gear. Thank you to the young girl who helped find the best gear for top water. Words are unexpressable, the service you guys gave me me and pop. Had a great day. This was caught at 10:40am and was a 12:30 high tide. Reel was spooling for 3 minutes. She jumped at 160 yards-ish. I knew I had a 30 pounder on from the tail. Come to find out when surfed from my pop we had much more and it was a released before I got to it. Biggest fish I have onshore.
Thanks Surfland,

Hi Liz and stickman and anyone else listening. Here are some pics of the biggest fish of the year so far – all pics here from 4th of July. Left the dock before dawn with my friend TJ and had a full morning of action. We caught stripers locally to PI and out a ways as well. My friend landed his PB at 41” in the AM – I was a little jealous and went back out in the PM closer to home and surprisingly matched the best of the morning with another 41”. Really fun and active day. Thank you for always helping me and everything. All the best and see u soon.

Posted at 15:01h, 11 JulyGreat fish, but have to stop grabbing these over-slot fish by the gills, it’s damaging and greatly decreases their chances of surviving once released.
