May 14, Fish for the devoted.

The beach has been productive for those who fish hard. A number of the fellas have got into pods of fish cruising the beachfront. Most are finicky, but taking soft plastic lures. It’s just that the pods are moving and the fishermen are moving, and the tide is moving. So those people who are putting in plenty of hours are the ones catching the fish.

The river blew up this morning. Well if they didn’t believe us the other day here is the proof. The river was boiling this am with hundreds, yes hundreds of stripers. One fisherman  that just left (5 am through the lowtide iinto the start of the incoming) said he got all 24″ + fish with probably about 5 keepers in the mix

The rivers and marshes in Cape Ann are also producing fish. If you know where to go in Gloucester, the fish are pretty reliable. Check out Skip Montellos blog to find out about that action.

Well here’s a devoted guy. Jamie has fished for 3 years and just got his first keeper. A 33″ striper from the beach using a Storm shad soft plastic. Looks like dinner. Congratulations and welcome to the addicted.

When’s the worst time for you reel to stop working? – when you’ve got your swim Shad in the middle of a pod of big bass, 10ft in front of you, and you can’t set the hook. That was 7.30pm, by the time I’d changed the reel the sun had set and the pod had gone.

    There’s always tomorrow..!
