May 20, The fish are around the local spots

Early mornings on the reservation have been very productive, as has the Plum Island River by the bridge using worms. New England Kayak Fishing’s Forum fishermen Stripah wrote about Joppa Flats being wild last sunset with topwater plugs. He’s on the kayak and knocking them around pretty well. A fish on every cast for a while.

Our own John Liss weighed in an 18 pounder on Monday, so the big fish are mixed in with the smallies. Here’s an excellent late-july fish from 1991 to get you thinking about the mack livelining to come.

Went out Wednes. 5 am. lot 1, had two hrs. of pretty good fishing. Landed 7 stripers this time, up to 27 in. Lots folks out there and lots of fish coming in. Boy they all seem big this year! I’m not complaing! Just hope there’s a huge supply of little ones, for years to come.
