May 21, Sun at last! Fishermen having fun.

Well we’ve been getting good reports the last couple of days, and today finally broke out in sunshine. It’s busy at the shop, with us opening at 5am, there was a steady stream of customers coming through. Joppa Flats showed a dozen or so boats in the fog just before the sun came through.

.

I mentioned that we’d post your pics if you send them to stickman@surflandbt.com, well, here are a few catch and release ones that we love to show.

.

Scott Selfridge sent us this fat carp pic. The fisherman is Dave Geissler and the fish was estimated about 13 pounds.

.

Myself, JimeCow, and U-boat went down to Narragansett Bay for a guided trip from Saltwater Edge Thursday night. The fish were skittish, but U-boat grabbed this nice 36′ striper using a bomber swimmer with a teaser rubbertail. Fish took the plug and we released her right back.

.

I’m not sure we’ve mentioned it on the blog yet, but Surfland is supporting the Nathaniel Bibaud Recovery Fund. Nate is a former Surfland employee, and was paralyzed from the shoulders down in an auto accident last fall. You can find out more on his site, but we at Surfland have printed a custom shirt for sale. All proceeds go to the fund which is for Nate’s long-term, aggressive rehab. (Medicare doesn’t cover this, and it’s expensive.) This fine illustration was drawn by Nate himself just a month or so ago. He doesn’t have the use of his fingers, so most of his drawing skills are coming from his shoulders.

.

Come down and buy one of these custom t-shirts to support a good cause.
