May 25, early birds get the worm

Kay says that there were plenty of bass in the river for those that can rise early.
.

Boaters: mackerel out at speckled apron, flounder out front along the oceanfront, other side of the bar in about 30 feet of water.

.

Sorry surf guys….

.

Joppa is heating up. Literally. Last night the water was 70.5 degrees. There were fish spooking everywhere, but only a few were being taken. We got one keeper on a black sluggo, as well as some hits on live eels. It was getting busy with kayakers, and this morning we had a kyaker in. Couldn’t get a space at the sea wall so we sent him down to refugee to put in.

It seems like the baby schoolies are back as well, unlike the last couple years. Yesterday, 20 fish in 3 hours all under 16 inches! Like keepers but nice to see the return of the small first year fish!

The Mouth shows her fury again. Just picked my wife up at AJH, and there were several people being treated for boating injuries, one look like she was fighting hypothermia. Ch 5 is reporting 8 people washed of beach, and 1 is still missing in the mouth. Boating or surf revelers, this place is full of people who do not respect it, and people who should not be boating in it.
