Yesterday we had the most fishermen and the most fish of the season. Top fish by teenager Matt Cammileri caught livelining Macs. His 32 lb striper is the best on our board this early season. We also weighed in 3 more keeper fish, a 16 pounder, an 18, and a just legal 28″er. The methods were varied too. One off the beach with chunks, one on a boat, and one using the tube and worm on the flats.
Lots more fish were taken in most any way. We saw a nice 36 pound Cod on the Rings Island Marine dock, and a boat that dragged up 100lbs of mackerel off shore. The fishermen up the river were having a good time with an assortment of schoolies and keepers. They were caught just hanging a piece of bat off the dock and waiting. Our pal Dave R got a keeper there too. Funny ’cause he was fishing next to his moored boat. Kinda made him feel like he should have been a surfcaster and bought a new truck instead of his skiff.
