may 28, the full moon was lovely

Broad daylight, not your usual time to find blitzes around here, was pretty good from the top of the tide to two hours after. Lots of keepers, including at least one 40″ fish on bait. As Mike reports from the shop today, “Friggin fish everywhere.” Stripers in the mouth of the river, along the sandbar near the Captains’ Ladies, and even further up past Cashman park. We’ve got Macks at Speckled Apron, Flounder just outside the mouth too. It looks good for the weekend. Sluggos, bucktails and other soft plastics are the most popular lures. Worms the most demanded bait.

.

Last night’s full moon brought out a decent-sized flotilla to Joppa Flats. There were fish spooking all over, but were pretty finicky. Out boat had luck with black sluggos, dark crease flies, and live eels. It wasn’t the frenzy of earlier in the day, but a relaxing, bright night to be on the water.

With the weather expected to be nice, don’t be surprised to see a pile of fishermen out. We are stocked with worms, clams, cut bait and eels, so come and get them. By the way, you need to register to fish now. Here’s the link:

As long as you’re coming down this weekend, You’ll need a sweatshirt to fend off the breeze. How about ours?

Coming up Tuesday to start my annual pilgrimage to the Island, and have high hopes and expectations! I’ll be soaking clams at the sandbar.
