Mola Mola

Mola Mola

This small Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola) was found along the oceanfront this morning near the end of the outgoing tide not far from the center. Couldn’t see any marks on it to indicate an accident with a boat……………..but couldn’t see the other side. Hmmmmmmmmmm, wonder what could of happened to the little guy. There have been an increase in jellyfish close to shore (one of their favorite foods), they have been spotted inside the mouth of the Merrimac before, bacteria? Sad. But please boaters, keep an eye out for the creatures. Beautiful fish!

I think that may be the mola I spotted in 45 feet of water on Saturday before hurricane Irene rolled through. Maybe the storm killed it and it finally washed up on the beach?
