October 1, Chilly Bluefish blitzes

October 1, Chilly Bluefish blitzes

Woke up this morning to 42 degrees outside and a light 8mph wind from the west. Supposed to warm up all the way to 63 today. Break out the bathing suits!

.

Bluefish have been the big story here for the last few days, when the wind wasn’t blowing people off the water. There were plenty of blues for the trolling up at the mouth this morning, but not too many off the beach. Seems like there have been bigger blitzes with smaller fish in the Parker River around Grape Island. Got a few calls today about the hundreds of birds over busting fish there.

.

We also had a good bass from the Reservation at dawn yesterday morning. Mid 30″s or so. Clams or worms there. Not so many are hooking up on lures.

.

We still have reports of good fishing in Maine and New Hampshire, so we might have another month to go on the season. The remainder of Cape Ann has been quiet for the last few days also, so it’s not just us with slow bassing.
