18 Mar Plum Island Surfcasters March 2013 Club Meeting Tuesday Night
At this month’s club meeting, we are are going to have two seminar topics!
Matt Ayers and Paul Caruso, from Massachusetts Marine Fisheries, will give a 20-25 minute presentation on the new and improved Marine Recreational Information Program (MRIP), which is the Atlantic coast federal recreational survey. The data gathered, along with phone survey and a new mail survey data, are used directly in management decisions and help both scientists and managers better understand what the impact of recreational fishing is on particular fish stocks.
Eric Roach will be presenting Successfully Shad Fishing the Merrimack. He will have maps of popular shad fishing locations on the lower Merrimack, including details of best spots and tides. Eric will also discuss shad fishing gear and terminal tackle: shad darts, flutter spoons, and jigs.
Supper will be available (at prices that will not break the bank) from 7:00 PM until the start of the meeting. The business portion of the meeting shall be brief. Here are the details:
