Striper action has been consistent over the last week. Plenty of fish, lots of different sizes, from small schoolies to some fat 40″ cows. Oh, and flounder too!

For the report

Early this week I finally had the right tides and a little spare time. I fished the Merrimack with small live eels by boat in about 6 feet of water on the incoming tide, starting about 8:30 pm. Monday night nothing happened until the sun went down, and I started spooking some fish here and there. I was lucky to find a school of good-sized stripers, and caught two, but lost one in 15 minutes. I didn’t measure them, and released them at the side of the boat without pulling them from the water. They revived quickly. I got sleepy pretty soon after, and headed back to the dock.

Tuesday night was a much harder hunt. Once again, nothing until a while after dark, then a hit and catch of this striper. Looks skinnier than it was, but it was somewhere in the mid-thirty inch realm. After that, nothing, and I bailed at high tide, getting home around midnight. I wasn’t the only one out there. It got pretty crowded in a couple coves, but I didn’t hear anyone fighting a fish the whole night.
