The CrewOn Saturday, April 13, 2013 starting at 9:00 AM there will be a riverside clean-up at Ferry Park in West Newbury; this area is known locally as the shad fishing spot “Rocks Village.”

This picturesque bend on the Merrimack River collects plastic and other floating debris from upstream and could use some stewardship.

This is a great early spring spot for American Shad so if you would like to learn about this area or shad fishing in general, come and meet local anglers while performing a valuable community service.

    Please note that Rocks Bridge is closed for repairs. Best access is from Rte 113.

    Please note that the construction company working on the bridge has their equipment laid-out on Church Street so parking is limited. Please park on Church Street beyond Ferry Lane.

    Thank you to the volunteers (mostly Plum Island Surfcasters members) who braved the cold conditions this morning to help with the cleanup. We hope to see you all again at next year’s cleanup. Tight lines.
