September 14, Hit or miss

Today we got a report from the beach. Jimmy just in from the refuge. He hit some small bluefish this morning on the oceanfront. And by small I mean 3 pounders. Not much at sunrise, but a bit later.

.

Your author would like to apologize for no reports since last week. I was out of town and in Madison Wisconsin watching the Ironman competition. Actually, the swim competition, with 2500 in the water at once, looked alot like a bluefish blitz:

.

While I was gone, the fishing, depending on your source, was pretty good or pretty lean. My surfcasting buddies who find the spots where rocks turn to sand have been consistently bringing in bass in the 15-20 pound range. The bluefish trolling success is down from it’s high of last week.

No shots from people bringing in fish to the shop? Makes me wonder just how bad the fishing is…must be real bad?
