September 19 – Catch and release from the weekend

Hey Stickman,
.
Last couple mornings down on the PI beach have been producing on topwaters. My buddy stuck 5 bass yesterday ranging from 24″ – 13″. I’ve landed a few as well, including this 30″ from this morning which was released to swim again. The key is getting there reeeaaallly early….once the sun breaks the horizon the fun is over…Tight lines!!

I also got this Catch and Release bunch of shots from my friend U-Boat last week. This trip was affectionately called, “Mako My Day.” Captained by Brooks, the big Grady White was live lining mackerel in a big chum slick. The slick seemed to have an adverse effect on some of the crew, but vomiting in the ocean is a trite of passage. The roughly 150lb. fish took a mac near the surface. Mako jumped clear out of the water twice. Dehooked and out swimming around the Jefferies Ledge.

Thanks Anguilla! I release almost all my fish. Not that I have a problem with those that keep the occasional one for the grill, but I would personally like to see more C&R photos on here…and everywhere.

    Tight Lines!!
