29 Sep September 29, Fish for the determined
Although Sunday was pretty foul on the weather side, the dedicated got fish.
Ed Kelly reports: “Well we got a nice 20lb striper off the beach down at lot 5. Wind and rain and all. Can’t figure out why everyone leaves when the weather goes to crap. The striper always love it.” And we got this nice picture from Steve Kerns out around the mouth. Rainy day bluefish.
I fished the refuge Saturday evening 5-10pm, and caught 1 schoolie at 9pm on the dropping tide (clams). Then fishing the next morning 5.30-7.30am caught another (same method) at around 6.30am. The tide was incoming at dawn while it was raining. It seemed perfect but the fish weren’t there. Maybe the seal I saw in the water had something to do with it.
Brian Moc reported a blitz of 30 pound fish this morning off Crane’s beach. brianmoc.com
