September 8, Drive-on Access News for this weekend

Eric Roach reports:

.

As many of you are aware, refuge management announced several weeks ago that ORV access would be suspended 9/8 – 9/10 due to the new moon tides.

.

After reviewing the expected tide height, wind predictions and surf predictions this afternoon, the refuge director felt comfortable allowing BB1 to remain ungated as usual through these days.

.

If you drive on the beach over the next three days, please use sound judgment concerning your ability to remain above the wet sand during high tide.

.

If common sense dictates that you should leave the beach for a couple hours on either side of high because conditions indicate the wash wall crest the berm, please exit the beach to a parking lot until the tide recedes and you can safely travel again.

.

In the interest of safety, any clear indications that conditions will drive a cresting tide will result in BB1 being gated for the overnight.
