Stormy Weather

Stormy Weather

Since I have nothing to report in the way of fishing I decided to head up to the beach in front of the store. We call this area “the center”. I have to say that it has calmed down a lot since yesterday, but the wind is still blowing and the ocean is still rolling. These pictures were taken at 1:00 pm just a few hours before low tide.

These are the rocks directly at the center and a picture of the damage the was done to the giant sandbags.

The next few are looking north towards the mouth of the river. Also notice the dredging equipment on the beach. They were supposed to start this week! Think they are learning why October wasn’t the best choice for this project.

This last picture is looking south towards the refuge

Well, they are reporting a break in the weather this Thursday, but we also have a New Moon this Thursday which will bring extreme high and low tides for Thursday and Friday. So, please be careful on the beach, especially you drive-ons. As far as we know the beach is still open for drive-ons, but if there is any news I will post it as soon as it becomes available. Eric will keep me well informed.

*************A fisherman just called in to report that he has had some decent activity on the Ipswich side. He found a protected area and manage one “keeper” with a few schoolies over the last several days. He has been using sluggos and top water lures

Took 2 Schoolies around 20″ thursday mid-morning at Refuge lot one on seaworms. It was hard to get it past the wash with the high surf, but I am guessing the strong west wind should bring the waves down soon. I was the only one out there fishing. Refuge was closed to drive-ons.
