11 Jul THE TUBE-N-WORM
The Tube-n-Worm has become one of the most effective pieces of tackle for fishing Joppa Flats. How simple of a rig, but how effective! Just remember, this simple rig can make a mess of your line. We always recommend using a good swivel or two to help prevent bad line twists. Can’t avoid them, just help to make them not as bad!

Brian Murphy from Ipswich brought this 30-13 pounder into the shop to get weighed in. He might not of been trolling a tube-n-worm, but he was trolling. Brian was trolling a niner rig in the plum island sound heading back to his mooring during the bottom of the outgoing tide when this fish hit. Brian would like it noted that he tried for awhile to revive the fish but it just didn’t work. So this is one for the dinner table. Brian fished outside along the oceanfront that day before heading in and said there were pogies and mackerel everywhere. You could see big fish (35-+40 inch range) under them but they just wouldn’t bite. It is nice to see that they have their choice of food right now.
