
11 Jul JULY 11 – Things that go bump in the night…..
Well, overall the fishing has been a little slow over the past week or so with only a handful of fish to show for quite a few hours put in and miles walked. You need to cover alot of ground to find the fish and even when you do find them they don’t seem to stay put for long and then it’s off to find them again. Plastic swimmers such as Mambo Minnows, Redfins and of course (should I even say it liz?) SP minnows are working retrieved pretty slowly. Floating sandeel type lure such as the Micah Dean or Ocean Lures are also working well when the conditions are calmer, especially in darker colors (both available at Surfland). However, this time of year is a night game. That’s not to say that there are not fish to be caught during the day, it’s just the odds are stacked considerably more in your favor once the sun goes down. This coming week we have some great moon tides for night fishing so lets hope the fish agree.
