Weymouth Herring Run, Have a visit to see!

Got this message from Jon Nash on the South Shore

You all need to see this herring run. A new push of fish and the volume will amaze you. I have never seen anything like it and it gives me a bit of hope. I have also added a few pics of my own from our visit on Monday afternoon. This new wave came in on the tide on Sunday…no idea how long it will last…
.

Driving directions (only 23 min from Duxbury library):
.
Take Derby St exit off Route 3. Head towards the Derby Street Shops, but leave them on your right and take a left at the next main intersection (towards Hingham/Cushing Street and Black Rock CC.)
.
At the next intersection, take another left and continue for a few miles over town line into Weymouth. Look for the herring run on your right – park in the lot adjoining the Greek restaurant. The large concrete fishway is there, but look across the street and you’ll see where the fish pass through shallow water with their backs exposed into a 50’ diameter pond with a viewing area with seating.
.
About 7 min off highway. GO ASAP. Bring people and help them understand the importance of this phenomenon.
.
